New Gear

P-Line Spin X Braid

Finally available to the masses is a new braid from P-Line specifically designed for spinning reels. This braid is designed to be extra soft and produce even longer casts with spinning gear. You'll notice with one look that it is a little bit different. It is a metered line and changes color between blue and orange every meter. This provides high visibility for finesse fishing in both cloudy and sunny environments. I haven't fished it yet but I am certainly looking forward to the advantages it will provide while line watching. It also comes in new strengths, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24.

MEGA Live

The wait is over! I've finally got one of those sought after MEGA Live transducers sitting at my house. MEGA Live was met with mixed reviews after it's long awaited launch. The good news is that the software is easily updated and Humminbird is constantly working on ways to improve the function of their units. The most recent software update to come out (version 1.15) is said to greatly improve the live sonar. I'll be having Brandon Stanley with Sonar Solutions rig it up soon. It connects via ethernet and it is recommended it be run through the 5 port ethernet switch. The only other thing that is needed is power so it should be a fairly simple job. I'm excited to get out and see what I can learn with MEGA Live and I'll be sure to report back with a review after some use.

Nuke Punch

Who doesn't like new baits? This bait actually came out last fall after the prime season for its use. I'll have to wait awhile before I get to dunk one in the jungle but I'm looking forward to it. There are a lot of great Googan colors available in it but only one size currently (3 3/4 inch). It's mostly going to be used as a grass punching bait for me although it might have some versatility too. It is a little on the small side for a lot of the waters I fish but really is going to bulk up nicely when hidden in a punch skirt.
