Clam Pro Day

Well I missed it again this year. This time for the D&R Classic on Lake Charlevoix. But I have gotten to see all about the new products and you can too. Recently Clam rolled out a brand-new website (much better than the old version) and all the new products are on there.

It’s crazy to already be thinking about ice fishing and let’s hope we get a better season than last year here in Michigan. Out of all the new products there were a few that stood out to me. First up the Predator Tip Up. If you’ve never seen this style of tip up before, the big advantage is that it sets the hook for you. Making it an option for other species of fish that might not be willing to swallow the bait set on a traditional tip up. It’s adjustable so it can fit a wide variety of rod actions. You will need some flex in the rod to set the tip up though. I’ll be sure to report back what works best for me. I have some big plans with these this season!

Next up is the ball hitch adapter, which if you are going to tow with a quad this is a must have. It simply fits on the current hitch but has a hole for the pin that most tow bars have on them. This allows you to use a tow bar and is the safest way to tow on ice for both yourself and the equipment you are towing.

The next item has a bunch more uses than just ice fishing. Clam unveiled a rechargeable handwarmer that also will allow you to charge a cell phone and other devices. It will definitely come in handy in whatever cold weather adventures you might have planned this fall and winter.
