Clam Outdoors Delta Suit
Clam went tactical with the latest suit, the Delta. It’s in the Ice Ops line of gear benefitting the Folds of Honor non profit. They specialize in scholorships to families of the military or first responders that have become disabled in the line of duty. A portion of anything in the Ice Ops line will go directly to them. Check the link out for more information.
As far as the suit, it’s available in 2 different colors. Green/Black and an all black version. I opted for the all black suit. I’ve had every motionfloat suit that clam sells. So I wanted to provide some feedback on this one in comparison to the others. One thing that really sticks out with this suit is the ultra comfortable fleece lining. This is different than the lining in the other motionfloat suits which is more of a standard jacket lining.
Comfort is the big thing with this suit. More freedom to move, more of a softshell type feel than either of the other suits. I’m anxious to put it to the test on the ice and see how the fabric holds up. I’ve been a big fan of the defender bibs for kneeling on the ice and just the overall toughness of them. They however are more rigid and less comfortable than the delta.
What I have gotten to do with the delta is a lot of boat fishing. I know last year at the Novi show we sold a lot of float suits to guys who were never going to step on the ice with them. If you are strictly a boat guy than this is the suit for you. I can move more freely in the boat with this one for sure and it has been extremely warm, windproof, and waterproof.
It also has all the standard features of a Clam suit. Adjustable height, reflective piping, motionfloat technology in case you end up in the water, and plenty of convenient pockets.
Now if we would just get some ice for further “testing”.
