Ultrex Quest - 1 Year Update

It's classic time again and that means I'm one year in to running Minn Kota’s Ultrex Quest. I was getting ready to swap my weedless blade for my power blade on it since I'll be in open water the rest of the season. I thought this would be a good opportunity to tell you how it's been working for a year.

The motor has been everything it's advertised as. I can monitor it's effeciency on my Humminbirds and it's definitely more effecient. This came in handy when I had a long troll back to the launch with some big motor problems.

I haven't noticed any weakness or parts wearing out on the mount. Everything is still solid and I can promise you it's been used/ /stowed/deployed a million times.

The only minor issue I had was spot lock would kick off every once in awhile. Usually when I notice something like that in either a trolling motor or graph. The first thing I check is if there is an update available. Sure enough there was and a quick update using the one boat network app and no more issues. A good lesson in that it is always important to keep your stuff up to date. Whenever I hear about someone having issues with their graphs. The first thing I suggest is to restore defaults and then update the units as soon as they can.

I mentioned swapping props at the beginning of this blog. The Quest comes with 2 props a power prop and a weedless prop. I've had a weedless prop on all year but with heading into the fall and more open water. More efficiency and more power, it just makes sense without being in any weeds.

If you are looking for upgrades to do to the boat over the winter. I highly recommend looking into the Ultrex Quest, it isn’t just an Ultrex 2.0 but a legitimate upgrade!
