Millie Eileen
I’m taking this girl dad thing to the next level! Baby number 3 ended up being another girl and a big one at that at 9lbs 13 ounces. We are starting to settle in as well as you can with a newborn right now. Sorry for the lack of blogs but there has been a lot going on and when I have some free time I haven’t been spending it at a computer.
Having another baby is certainly more complicated when you already have 2 at home and all your family lives on the other side of the state. Luckily we made it to Amanda’s elective induction date and we were only delayed about 5 hours. Grandparents were in place to watch the other 2 monsters and off we went. Feeling like old pros at this point but really neither of us remember all the details.
We were hopeful for a daytime birth but things didn’t get moving until later at night. This one would of course be the most stressful one yet as there were some issues with heart rates dropping. Vacuums and emergency C sections were being talked about. Not things anyone wants to hear. There was one last chance to get things trending in the right direction and fortunately it all worked out. I certainly can’t handle the stress of another birth especially after that one and it was a cake walk compared to what a lot of parents go through. But we had another healthy little girl on April 16th and what seemed like the shortest hospital stay of all after that. There were some concerns about sugars because she was such a big baby and a mention of Jaundice numbers one time. But all ended up being ok and we headed home to meet the girls.
The other 2 had been very excited leading up to it but you never know how they will really react. Especially when they are going to get less attention. They’ve barely skipped a beat though and have been as helpful as children under 5 can be. Amanda is doing great too and Millie has had her moments but been pretty easy. After the Colic experience with Mabel everything seems much easier!
The nice thing this time around is I also get some time off work. Although I still will be working intermittently in the field, I’ll have 12 weeks off too. I think I took about 3 days off with both of the other girls so this is working out much better and is much less stressful for everyone.
