I definitely wasn't planning on ice out and nice weather this early. I can't get my boat out of storage until April 1st! Definitely means I'm going to need to look into a place with a pole barn at some point. Storing it somewhere else is definitely a pain in the butt, so is cleaning snow off of your car every other day during a west Michigan winter. I think it makes Amanda happy too that the cars get the garage all winter.

Luckily I have buddies who will take me while I'm stuck on the bank (thanks Dave)! We got off to a fast start with a double on our second cast (mine was a pike though), then things slowed down. We didn't have a ton of time to run around the lake and only caught a dozen or so. But it still was awesome to get out on the water. Blade baits, darters, and jigs accounted for most of our mixed bag of smallies and largies. It was also nice to be bass fishing in March in Michigan legally! Huge thanks to Dan Kimmel of Greatlakesbass.com for all the work he and others did to get year round catch and release for all the fisherman in this state.

I've been busy getting a little writing done too. I've got a couple new articles out on the FishSens Magazine. One about the invasive Starry Stonewort and the other about one of my favorite places to look for spring bass (coming soon so watch out for it). Also stay tuned because the release of the SondeCAM HD is coming!

I'll be at the Grand Rapids Sport this weekend working with Humminbird and Minn Kota. Stop by an see us, we will have those hot new HELIX units on display. Also I want to remind any ONIX users out there that update 2.7 is out. It will enable ONIX units to use CHIRP sonar as well as several other features. While you are at the show make sure you stop by the ClearH2O Tackle booth. Not only will you find Darrin from ClearH2O with some great deals but Brian McCarter and Nemesis baits will be in there as well. Great opportunity to stock up on bullet craws before spring!

The next weekend I'll be at D&R Sports with Humminbird, Minn Kota, and Lew's. One of the cool things we will be doing with Lew's this year is have a casting competition and it will be hosted by legendary touring pro David Fritts. This is the show to come out to if you want to mingle with the pros, lots of seminars as well and those guys are always really approachable at D&R.

That's about all I've got for now, I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at the shows the next couple weeks. Then it is time to fish!
